About me
Youssra is an Arab, Muslim, Canadian. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Psychology and Sociology, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master's in Theoretical, Cultural, and International Studies from the University of Alberta. Her professional experiences include front line mental health services at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, youth support with non-profit human service organizations, as well as 15 years serving learners as an educator in many different capacities. Currently, Youssra works as a Diversity Education Consultant. She is an advocate for diversity and anti-racism in both her personal and professional life. She serves with a broad range of organizations in a leadership, advisory, or governance capacity to further this work in schools and the community. This includes The Teacher Education and Certification Committee and the ESL Council with The Alberta Teacher's Association, The Canadian Teacher's Federation Advisory Group on Eliminating Systemic Racism, Oppression and Discrimination; she is a member of Coalitions Creating Equity Edmonton and chairs The Africa Center's Refugee and Emerging Communities Scholarship Committee; she is a Director at Islamic Family and The Center for Race and Culture. Aside from her husband and four children, her greatest commitment is supporting humanity, especially students and educators.
