About me
Tishina Shannacappo (she/her/hers) is a First Nations (Anishinaabe) Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She owns Heart Berry Psychology, which is part of the Riverwest Therapy Collective, and offers strength- and heart-based psychological services to children, adolescents, and adults. Before relocating to Calgary in October 2023, Tishina worked as a provisionally certified school psychologist (assessment and consultation focused), for a federally funded First Nations organization, serving eight rural and Northern First Nations communities across Manitoba alongside a large interdisciplinary clinical team. She also worked as an educational editor while training as a school psychologist, where she helped polish books, governmental reports, and educational resources for the organization’s affiliated schools. With approximately a decade of experience in the education field, Tishina enjoys connecting with skilled educators about their experiences and expanding conversations on working with Indigenous populations in the educational system. Her doctoral research will focus on place-based, culturally affirming assessment approaches from the perspective of Indigenous psychologists.
